new music Wednesday

OK, I'm putting myself out on a ledge here… ever since Ukulele God Jake Shimabukuro signed my ukulele at the concert Monstro and I attended on our 5-year wedding anniversary, I've felt the urge to make my ukulele more worthwhile. So, I'm arranging songs and learning them and recording them (thank you iMac Garage Band, I love you so). Here's my first attempt since Jake imbued my uke with his groovy goodness.

I sang better before I got vocal nodes in high school, which ultimately destroyed my dreams of Broadway and instead pushed me toward my camera (earning me the Bank of America Fine Arts award senior year), but I don't hear YOU posting YOUR music (except for you Jim Dee, blessings upon thou), so this will have to do.

  1. All I'm getting is a bunch of random text when I try to open your attachment. (and I'm talking alien language random).
    Am I doing something wrong?

  2. I am impressed that the uke is in tune! Nothing worse than a sour uke (speaking as someone who lived in Hawaii)…and its one of my favorite songs too…
it downloaded automatically to my itunes and opened no problem…but we are together in Macness…

  3. Awesome- I can hear it requested on KFOG's acoustic sunrise already! The best part is that it pops up in my itunes as Lynn Benson's Album, by Lynn. B. Johnson, right in between The Best of John Hiatt and Madonna!

  4. Yup, that's my name, don't wear it out. I think in-between John Hiatt and Madonna is incredibly apt, too. 🙂

  5. Well done! I've always loved that tune. Indeed, few bloggers are posting original compositions and arrangements. But, I believe you've (quite incredibly) chosen a more esoteric genre than I did. I'd have to estimate that the world's ukelele fan base is smaller than those who appreciate my own specialty of piano ragtime & novelties.
