Makes three days since Monday I've gone running — pretty decent, considering I was on an airplane all day Tuesday and they really don't appreciate wind sprints down the aisle, and Wednesday was six hours of aerobic housecleaning, moving furniture and all that. Today's run included special appearances at the bank and the haircut store and Cathy Cross. By the time I started home I really had to book — it was 4:00, which in New England in January means the sunset is imminent. The freezing-cold headwind didn't help up the hill but it ultimately made my feet move faster, the quicker to be out of it. Then the last quarter mile featured Billy Idol's “Rebel Yell” so I was home before I knew it. Time for my homemade recovery drink of chocolate milk with half a scoop of protein powder — if you make a slurry of syrup and powder, then add the milk, you get these yummy chocolate/protein pearls at the bottom of your glass. Yum-my.
vis a vis my DVT/blood clot from a long plane trip, maybe you should have done wind sprints in the aisle! Did you have crazy security on the plane– no books or blankets at the end of the flight — or anything like that, or is that only for international flights into the US? I am going to venture outside today since the ice and slush are gone from the sidewalks– not an aerobic walk yet but maybe next week! Love Katherine
I was terrified of TSA and silly airline restrictions, but actually, this was the easiest set of flights Monstro and I have taken with the boys. TSA was actually *friendly* and *HELPFUL* — one agent, upon seeing me holding BK in one arm and trying to wrest the double stroller onto the conveyor belt, left his post to lift the stroller. Both times we went through security, TSA agents brought our multitude of already-checked-through bins over to where we were putting on our shoes. And US Airways was AWESOME — they let us pre-board (Southwest doesn't do that anymore), we had assigned seats, and they were also friendly and helpful. Next time I fly, or any member of my family flies, I'll first look to see if there's a US Airways flight available.
Slow and steady wins the post-recovery race. Best to your mom!
